Requirements Planning

Requirement Plans are effectively a list of manufactured products (either finished items or intermediate sub-assemblies) and quantities that reflect the intended production volumes.

Once a plan has been defined an analysis process is instigated that calculates net sub-assembly and component/material requirements whilst taking account of current inventory levels. In the latter respect a combined inventory level is determined for any product where mixed unit-of-measure inventory exists, due possibly to variations between purchasing and bill-of-material definition weights/measure.

Current inventory levels reduce the requirements for any sub-assembly and raw material items that are identified as production requirements and the former are also adjusted to take account of any production volumes included in the plan.

A variety of reports are available detailing the net calculated requirements, current inventory level, allocated inventory and any purchase order cover that has not yet been received.

If inventory levels are adjusted for any reason following the calculation process for any plan, the user may repeat this phase any number of times to revise these figures and take account of all such adjustments.
